Australia trip Day 11 - Tasmania trip Day 3

Time flies, it was the last day in Tasmania.
The view from my hotel.

Mr tour guide fetched us at 8.30am and the first stop for today was Mt. Field National Park, which is also known as the natural oxygen bar and the oldest natural reserve in Tasmania. There were a lot of old Gum Tree in this reserve forest. The maximum lifespan of a gum tree is 25 years, but there is 1% of it could live until 100 over years.

This is the second tallest gum tree in the world. It was hard to capture the photo of the whole tree.

We were going to walk to visit two waterfalls in the national park.

Horseshoe Falls (马蹄瀑布)

 Russell Falls (罗素瀑布)
With my tour guide - Xiao Zhou. He is a very good and responsible tour guide. He holds Master for accountancy but then he changes his career to be a tour guide because he felt bored sitting in the office for the whole day.

Way back to city. There were alot of poppy flower (罂粟花) farm along the roadside.
The beautiful flower for making pain killer/ drugs. 75% of poppy flowers in the world is planted and exported from Tasmania.
Houses along the road.
Next station was the Mona Private Museum. This is the largest private museum in Southern Hemisphere. The owner of this museum make a lot of money through gambling in casino. He had created a mathematics formula that help him to win in worldwide casino and he is now prohibited from all the casino. LOL. He spent part of his money to build this underground museum. Most of the collections in this museum are about Sex and Abuse. The entrance ticket is $20. Since this was an optional travelling spot, my aunt and I chose not to enter.
Outside Mona.
There is a cafe in the museum and many ang moh chose to have sunbathing and enjoying their coffee outdoor. The sun wasw really merciless that day. I dont understand why they can stand of the sun.
I was just simply posing for some photo and escaped from the sun and hide in the shade already. Unlike those ang moh could 'enjoy' the hot sun for a whole afternoon. Bravo!

Spent 2 hours talking with a pair of old couple from Shanghai in the cafe while waiting for some visitors from Taiwan. The last station of my Tasmania trip was the Tasmania Botanical Garden. The botanical garden here was much smaller compared to Royal Botanical Garden in Melbourne, but somehow the flowers here also very beautiful.
Love this photo as the flowers were so colourful =)

Inside the Japanese Garden.
The lavender garden

The very weird tree.

The arch.

The photo of all the members for my Day 3.
Before we went back, mr tour guide drove us to Sandy Bay Villa area to see those expensive villa. This area is the area where rich Tasmanians stay. The villa in this area is expensive because the view here is great! You can view the whole Hobart city: The tower in the left bottom is the tallest building in Hobart - the casino and the bridge in front is Tasmans bridge

Say bye-bye to Tasmania and my tour guide that looked like Ethan Ruan. :(
Our 8pm flight had delayed to 9pm Grrrr. Reach Melbourne airport at 10pm and jie jie fetched us back. I was shocked because the weather from that night was terribly HOT! It was hot and dry and just like the condition when the electrical current is being cut in Malaysia. No fan in jie jie's house. That was how my night spent. First time I experienced the real Summer day. I heard the temperature was 39 degree celcius for that day. OMG.
Melbourne city from the flight.

Australia trip Day 10 - Tasmania trip Day 2

Departed from Hobart city at 8.45am to have another fun day to admire beautiful scenery and visit the historic site in Tasmania.
On the way to Port Arthur the prison, we stopped at some highlighted travelling spot.
The first stop was Pirate Bay.
The name of Pirate Bay was given because there were many pirate around this area once upon a time.

Second stop, Tessellated Pavement 棋盘道. The name given because the rock has naturally fractured into polygonal blocks that resembled tiles. It looked like the plan of the chess. Some people doubt that it was built by human or maybe UFO, but the answer is NO. The cracks were formed when the rock fractured through the action of stress on the Earth's crust and subsequently modified by sand and wave action. *according to wiki*

Hard to believe that the rocks are formed naturally right?

Next station which was a 2 mins journey from Tessellated pavement was the Tasmans Arch
Tour guide told us that there would be one day in the future that we need to take a boat to go to the middle of the sea to see this arch because the arch will slowly get further from the mainland because of the movement of the Earth crust. But that would be something after millions of years later. XD

Next station: Devil's Kitchen
Perhaps you would doubt why this name was given. I felt curious too before my tour guide explained for us. I thought maybe there were nice food welcoming us at the beginning but then I guessed perhaps the rocks was like some cooking utensils or dining table. But none of my guessing was the correct answer. The name of Devil's Kitchen was given because this was the place where the Tasmania's devil ate 2 pirates.

Spot the hole at the left bottom of the photo. There is the place when the pirates eaten up by the Tasmania's devil.
Some view around the reservation park.

The last station: The Blowhole
This place is interesting. There is an entrance (a small hole) where the sea water can flow inside the closed lake. The water will splashed up when knock on the rocks. The height of the water being splashed up depends on how strong is the wave flow into it. I waited for a long to capture the scene where the water splashed up.

My lunch burger and chips for $10.
The car selling all sorts of fast food.

Finish eating, finish admiring, it was time to go back to prison. *I was the prisoner*
PORT ARTHUR, the most well-kept old prison and most significant heritage area in Australia, located at the Tamanian Peninsula. This prison was built in 1830 and done in 1833. It was the destination for the British and Irish criminals. They were sent here by ferry/ship. Even if you stole a handkerchief, you would get caught and sent here to lock up for 7 years. 5 years of travelling from England to Australia was not included.

Wooden bed for those lighter accusation.
The card I get before I entered.
William Bickle, 7 years because he stole a watch!!!

The prison was completed with hospital, church, police station, court etc. A prisoner was not here to lock up only, there were officers here to teach them some skills according to their ability so that they wont get involved into criminal like stealing again if they had some skills to earn money. For example, baking bread, cooking, making furniture, working as a blacksmith, etc.

The jail building. Caught fire in 1979. :(
Being locked here also not bad what. Blue sky, green grass, nice lake in front.

The separate prison.

The jail now had changed into motel. You can pay $80 to experience the life of the prisoner for one night.
The church.
The stage for the priest.

The commander's house.
Going to the port to take the ship and go around the Isle of the death where the prisoners died of TB buried and Point Puer Boys Prison.
This historical site was very big and I dont have enough time to walk through every part of the building, sadly. If you are interested in further information or more photo,  http://www.portarthur.org.au/  is the official website for Port Arthur. :)

Back to the city after 2 hours journey. We had our dinner in a Vietnamese restaurant at Salamanca Square. There were a lot of art galleries here but all closed at 5pm, so we could only stroll along the street.
Another Tasmanian ice cream :P
Walk into this lorong.
Lotsa ang moh having their dinner and beer at the cafe.
The decorations.

Back to hotel at 8pm. As a conclusion, it was a fun day.
