Practicum 2.0 Cultural camp

Hello boys and girls, welcome reading!
I am going to blog about the second camp I participated during my second practicum. The camp was held last week but I am totally busy the past few days due to the assignment and lesson plan, so sorry for the late update. I hope I could blog every happenings in school, write down my feelings in school, but I just got no time!
I spent all my time for my working, sleeping and eating. Serious. No entertainment no life.
But life is really contented. My 24 hours are fully used beneficially.

Talk about the cultural camp.
It was titled as ‘我的文化,你懂吗?’ (My culture, You know?)
It gave chances for the kids to learn about Malaysian' culture within 2 days 1 night. They learnt from group activities, songs and games. 2 days 1 night is definitely not enough because there is a lot more like Malay dance, Chinese calligraphy and etc not being touched. But I think this is only a beginning. It made the kids to be interested in 'culture of different races' and perhaps after this camp, these kids would explore more and deeper about 'Culture'.

First of all, the Indian cultured was introduced for the kids.
They tried Teeka (the red marks on the forehead).
This is one of the cute boy from my class. He is really sweet and warm.

They tried Kolam. I never try this before!! What they made really impressed me!

In the afternoon, they were exposed to some Malay cultures.
I was in charge in the Congkak station.
I bet this camp is successful because yesterday one of my girl asked me to bring Congkak for them during their PJ. They taught their friends and they were really enjoying the game.

And one day, during the Music lesson, my 3B students asked me to give them the chance to sing the Malay song they learnt in the camp. 'Chan mali Chan, Chan mali Chan.......' They loved Malay song even more than the Chinese song they learnt. Truly local Malaysian huh! :D

Ketupat making.
Personally think that it is kinda hard for kids to make the ketupat because their palms are small and difficult to hold the ribbons well. So most of them not able to make one.
Wearing sarong experience.
Another cute boy from my class. He is kinda active in class. He has no front teeth now. XD
Drawing batik experience.

For the Chinese culture, they learnt how to use the chopstick. It is shameful for me to admit I can't use chopstick very well either. :(

They learnt how to make glutinous ball (Tang Yuan)
我承认我有私心,我都拍我班的小朋友。
But they are really cute!! They made 2 mixed colour balls at the beginning and they said one is for me, one is for the headmaster. And they ran towards the headmaster and showed him the balls they made with a very proud face.

With their beloved headmaster, Mr Ng.
The boys were really sweet. They get a bowl of Tang Yuan for me and 'forced' me to finish it.
One of them telling me Goodnight teacher before went to bed and asked me to rest well.
I must say I am really really touched!
I never know a simple action, some simple words can be so powerful.

The mothers in the school were really kind. They came to the school to lend their helping hand for almost every meal.
They made burgers for our breakfast.
The kids enjoyed their burger so much!
These are the girls from my 4B PJ and 3K BC class.
The girl at the right is one of my favourite girl in class. :P Most of the girls in my Chinese class are very shy and quiet, she is one of the 10% exception. She never pass up my books in the beginning but she turned over a new leaf now after I asked her to be the group leader to collect books. It is good to see her changes to a positive side. Keep it up girl! :)
There were lots of games after breakfast. The kids were very energetic. They never feel tired though they kept on running talking playing for a whole day.

Not forget to take a photo with my beloved teacher at the camp.

Happy time flies. It was time to say bye bye.
Hope there will be another time of camping like this and I will be able to join.
 我的文化,我懂了!
Success!
:)
