Veggie Planet. Maleficent. Eating and movie.

Thanks to the Sultan and Awal Ramadan, I got extra two days of holiday.
So, me and le bff Fiona decided to hangout and watch movie in Malacca.
Pity little Muar got no cinema.
Pity Muarians have to travel one hour to Malacca or BP for one movie.

Since it was the first of June in lunar calendar and we took only vege on this day, we tried out a vegetarian cuisine called VEGGIE PLANET in Malacca.
Let me introduce the cuisine in this post.
But before that, let me us take a selfie. ;P
BFFs

I like this cafe so much.
It seemed to be the best best vegetarian cafe I've ever been before.
It is a cuisine with two shop lots combined and that's why it is very spacious.
Some deco in the cuisine.
I feel the organic. I feel the health.
=)
Chrysanthemum tea.
*Like this photo so much*
Porridge, Black Vinegar Ramen, Lontong Glass Noodle and Tomyam Glass Noodle.
It was the third bowl of Tomyam for me this week!
I'm not really a Tomyam-lover, but I'm so so addicted in spicy food.
Fiona with her Lontong.
I not really like the taste of the lontong, a bit different from what we normally eat.
 Me and my Tomyam.
The soup is thick and sour. Very full-filling. I kept dig dig dig and I was like why I haven't finish eating though I had eaten a lot. Nom nom nom.
Meet Fiona's pretty cousin - Flora!! :D

3 of us.

With Fiona's mom and auntie and cousin.

If you are a vegetarian/ vege food lover, I would strongly recommend this place for you.
The ambiance is very quiet and good. The waiters are very friendly. The food served is tasty too!
Veggie Planet
41, Jalan Melaka Raya 8,
Taman Melaka Raya,
75000 Melaka.
Tel: 06-2922819
Business Hour: 9am - 10pm (9pm last order)

The highlight of the day.
We watched Maleficent in Dataran Pahlawan afterwards.
It is quite a nice movie. It changed the mindset of us towards the story of Sleeping Beauty.
Sleeping Beauty is not being saved by the prince but the witch who cursed her beforehand.
Witch is not always evil. She has her own kindness.
True love doesn't mean 'love'. Friendship or Family love is 'True love' too and it will never change.
Btw, we ate so many things when watching the movie.
Japanese Po Piah recommended by room mate is really yums!

Last last but not least,
I had Starbucks!!
It is always so happy to have Starbucks I don't know why.

Mei mei, me, Fiona.
We were having Java Chips and the latest Strawberry Cheesecake frap.
Wanton noodles and glutinous rice ball afterwards call it a day.
It is so nice to have one day trip/ hangout with friends. Though it is very tired, it made you forget every worries and sadness. It made me feel like holidays again though I had started school for one week already.
More to come, please!

Yee Ching's 22nd :D

A throwback post. Sorry for delaying.
Another friends of mine had turned 22nd on 22nd June!
We got her a simple yet happy and surprising celebration in Piano Bar.
I always love the ambiance in Piano Bar.
There is live performance on stage everyday I think and they give photo card to the birthday star.
The food is kinda delicious. I really love their carbonara!! ;P
The waiters are very kind and helpful either. They never fail to co-operate well with us.
They helped us to take photo and even edited it and posted in their Facebook page.
Group photo
:)
Taking from the side.
I like this photo but unfortunately Ivan was missing in this photo oops!

We sang 《朋友》and Birthday song for our birthday star Yee Ching babe on the stage.
Everyone was staring at us.
We were nervous but we did it just to make this babe surprise.
I guess and I hope she was surprise and touched enough? Perhaps. :)
Make a wish.
Hope she always stay sweet with her bf, stay healthy and no more fallen sick easily, stay happy and sampat as usual. Last but not least, stay pretty and gorgeous always! yay! XD
A closer look at the little cupcakes.
Prepared by Yee Ching's bb, mr Ivan.
Woah! The cupcakes looked really sweet in tiffany blue, ain't it?
Too beautiful and glamour and special until all of us felt bad to destroy it and put it in our mouth.
*heart-pain*
They are actually chocolate cake.
Ivan, the happiest girl on earth and yours truly.
:)
Each of us picked one.
Cheers using the cake. lol
*Spot my fatty fingers and the cupcake with tiffany blue handbag*
Posing with the cupcakes we picked.
It was the first blissful night we spent in this new semester.
I always like this typo gathering. Fun and no stress.

So fast, Sem 6!

School get started.
My room had changed from 05-221 to 05-128 which is far from the toilet.
But anyhow, I no need to climb up to another floor.
Result is out today.
Thankfully I get good result again this time. Thanks Buddha! :)
I am really satisfied this time because I did very little and last minutes revision last time.
You know how sad I was when I was preparing for the exam due to the losing of my beloved uncle. I worried about my uncle's condition and I cried for it. And I went to KL to attend the funeral few days before exam. I studied in the hotel in the car but of course the heart was not with me.
So, I am really really thankful to get the result I get today.
Today is his birthday.
My result might not be the best result but the best gift I could ever give to him.
I hope I can do better in this semester, at least maintaining my CGPA will do. Please!

Speaking of this brand new semester.
In spite of the subjects we are taking this time is only a few, which is good, I still find myself quite stress and nervous.
Because.........
I am the class monitor for this semester!! Argh :O
I hope Semester 6 will be good to me.
I hope everybody will co-operate well with me.
I hope my second practicum will be alright, as good as the first one.

For now, I just simply hope this 3 weeks will fly as soon as possible so that I can go back to my lovely hometown for practicum. I can't wait to stay at home for 2 months! I can't wait for practicum!
Everything will be good, as long as you believe.

For One More Day

FOR ONE MORE DAY by Mitch Albom
Worth reading: ★★   (7/10)
Reason: The story is a bit confusing but the inner meaning is clear.

Perhaps I was a bit too tired when reading this, I get confused sometimes.
This book is about a broken man named Charley Benetto, who was trying to commit suicide after his wife and daughter left him, met his mom who had already passed away.
He was shocked when he met his mom who was supposed to be a 'ghost', standing in front of him, preparing breakfast and talking to him like nothing had happened.
He followed his mom to visit some old folks in this very one day and knowing that he had misunderstood his mom all these years through the conversation with these people.
He never knew that his mom worked as housekeeper to earn more money for him to study in a college.
He never knew that his mom had sacrificed so much for him.
His mom always stood up for him but he never stand up for his mom.
He felt so regret that he cheated his mom the last time he met her. He lied that he went for a meeting, but actually he went for a baseball match. Due to this match, he missed the chance to save his mom from a massive heart attack. He missed the chance to have a brunch with her. He missed the chance to see her for the last time.
He wished he could have more time to spend with his mom.
He was given this one more day to spend with his mom.
Through this one day, he had learnt to appreciate his life and try to make things right again with those he loved.

After finish reading this novel, I felt sad.
I learnt that parents are always sacrificing for their children.
'I also believe that parents, if they love you, will hold you safely, above their swirling waters, and sometimes that means you'll never know what they endured, and you may treat them unkindly, in a way you otherwise wouldn't.'

But then, ask yourself, have you ever sacrifice something for your parents?
Your parents might say that he/she doesn't want anything from you, he/she only wants to see you success. But, is this really true?
For me, there is no better way than accompanying the parents, talking to them and concern them, crack jokes to make them happy. Whoever doesn't want to stay with their kids all the time? That's why I always love to stuck at home and do silly acts. I just want to see my family members happy and laugh.
Don't cry over the split milk after the people you loved gone.
Nobody is going to give you one more day to stay with the people you lost.
Appreciate.
:)

PS: Aiks, the second book of Mitch Albom make me emotional again.

The Five People You Meet in Heaven

THE FIVE PEOPLE YOU MEET IN HEAVEN by Mitch Albom
Worth reading: ★★★★☆ (9/10)
Reason: Touched by the philosophies on life written by the author. Meaningful.

As the title said, The five people you meet in heaven.
The book is about the five people Eddie meets when he is in heaven when he dies in a tragic accident, trying to save a little girl from a falling cart. He dies on his 83rd birthday.
I'm not going to tell you who are the 5 people Eddie meets in heaven in this post, no spoiler today, you gotta read yourself.
What I'm going to share today is some quotes that I found kinda interesting and meaningful in this book.
To be frank, I'm touched by the lessons inside the book, but not the story itself. Those quotes really make me think a lot.
  1. Fairness does not govern life and death. If it did, no good person would ever die young.
  2. That death doesn't just take someone, it misses someone else, and in the small distance between being taken and being missed, lives are changed.
  3. Strangers are just family you haven't yet to come to know.
  4. Sometimes when you sacrifice something precious, you're not really losing it. You're passing it on to someone else.
  5. Holding anger is a poison. It eats you from inside. We think that hating is a weapon that attacks the person who harmed us. But hatred is a curved blade. And the harm we do, we do to ourselves.
  6. Lost love is still love. You can't see their smile or bring them food or tousle their hair or move them around a dance floor. But when those senses weaken, another heightens. Memory. Memory becomes your partner. You nurture it. You hold it. You dance with it.
  7. Life has to end. Love doesn't.
I read this book fast because I can't wait to know who is the next person Eddie gonna meet and what lesson the next person would share with him.

I learnt that we are in this world for a reason as the last sentence in the book states 'That each affects the other and the other affects the next, and the world is full of stories, but the stories are all one.' So, no one in this world is going to be totally useless.
From this, I know that we gotta be wise in taking actions, think twice before we carry out anything because what we do will definitely change something, affect something, someone.
I am a teacher-to-be and what I do will surely influence a kid. I not dare to say that I can improve their academy during my practicum period but I just hope that I could at least make them fall in love in Chinese subject. At least at least don't lost their interest in this subject after I teach.
I also learnt that death is not a big deal, everybody will die, one day. Ya, we will be sad over somebody's death but love will never change and memories either. Thus, we should appreciate every moments and try to create memories for tomorrow. Learn to appreciate and sacrifice and learn not to hate.

I don't know what I'm typing. I don't know does it really related to this book. I just feel like typing what comes across my mind. Sound sentimental? All due to this book!
Thanks for reading my book review and hope you enjoy reading books!
Ciao!! :)

A Thousand Splendid Suns

A THOUSAND SPLENDID SUNS by Khaled Hosseini
Worth reading: ★★★★☆ (9/10)
Reason: Story and history. Hope and despair. Strength of a woman and love. Awesome book one mustn't miss!

A very very sad book.
The book is separated in 4 parts.
The first two parts are sad but still alright, I can stand of. But not the part III.
I was frowning when I was reading it. My heart squeezed. :(
It is a really good book. A touching one.
I admire the writing skill of the author.
He knew which part have to be lengthen and which part have to be in short yet it could make the readers understand and connect the story well.
The author described some parts in details for example how Rasheed beat her wives to bring out his violence personality, how difficult for Laila to give birth in a hospital that is lack of medications to show how bad the Taliban treat the women in the country.
Of course, there are some parts for example Laila had Rasheed's baby, the author just briefly touched about this point and the next thing he wrote is Laila gave birth.
This novel weaves 30 years of turbulent Afghan history through an intensely powerful story of family, friendship and ultimately, hope.
Love can move a person to at in unexpected ways and lead them to overcome the most daunting obstacles with a startling heroism.

ATTENTION! SPOILER!
PART I is about the life of one of the main character Mariam.
Mariam is a 'harami' (illegitimate child私生女). She always wants to stay with her dad Jalil but she couldn't. She secretly went to find her dad one day in Herat city but her dad refused to open the door for her. And when she went back, she found her Nana (mom) suicide of hanging. Her dad didn't want to stay with her even her mom died to save his face since she was the harami. He asked her to marry with a man who doubled her age from Kabul city, Rasheed. She lived in happiness in the very beginning until she suffered natural abortion.

PART II is about the life of another character Laila.
She is the youngest daughter of the neighbour of Mariam, Hakim and Fariba. She was in love with Tariq and bear her child. But the war get started and Laila's parents died. Laila married to Rasheed with the lies that she actually had Tariq's baby. She gave born to a baby girl named Aziza.

PART III is about the life these two women under Rasheed's house.
Mariam was angry with Laila for stealing her husband in the beginning. But they were friends, nope, more like mother-and-daughter-relation afterwards.
They planned together to flee. Sadly they failed. They were sent back home and beaten by Rasheed, a very terrible one. *This is the part I get really nervous. Heartbreaking when knew that their fleeing plan failed.*
They suffered under Taliban. *Ridiculous rules made me laugh!*
The family became poor and they had to send away Aziza to a orphanage house.
Mariam killed Rasheed in order to save Laila.

PART IV is about Laila's life after she escaped from Kabul with Tariq who was cheated dead but actually still alive.
She visited Mariam's hometown, Herat and then back to Kabul to contribute after the war.
She read Jalil's letter to Mariam. *Shed tears reading the letter*
Happy ending after lotsa pain and tears.
*Smile a little, yet the heart is still very heavy*

Achieve my target which is reading 2-3 novels in this holidays!!
I am so blissful, so happy, so excited.
I set this target in every holidays but all to no avail since I am always a lazy girl. :(
But not this time! Yay XD
One more week of holidays, perhaps I am able to read another one good book.
What's coming next?

Between the Lines

BETWEEN THE LINES by Jodi Picoult & Samantha Van Leer
Worth reading: ★★☆ (8/10)
Reason: Simple. Easy to understand. Special story.

"We could all be who we want to be, instead of who someone else told us to be." - by Oliver.
This is the sentence I found meaningful in this story.

It is a story that having the most special story plot I had ever read.
A story plot that suit both adult and young readers.
Romance and reality and fantasy.

Have you ever think that the character in a fairy tale could talk with you?
In this story, Delilah did.
She found the character in her favourite fairy tale 'Between the Lines' by Jessamyn Jacobs, Prince Oliver could talk with her. She believed what he tells.
The characters acted according to what the author want them to be when there is reader open the book and read it. But the characters are all having different characteristic and living style as well as talking style when the book is closed.

Oliver doesn't like Seraphima (the girl he loves and tries his best to rescue according to the author's story plot).
Oliver wants to escape from the story.
Oliver shouts and Delilah is the first reader who realizes it, who could hear whatever he is talking about.
They chat.
They are falling in love.
Delilah holds the book everytime and her mom thought she is insane and sends her to a doctor.
How possible is the character in a fairy tale could stay with a high school girl who comes from a real world forever?
They try.
They try every method that they could think of to set Oliver free from the story.
They fail.
Until the twist that occur in the end of the story which is really surprise me!
Everyone Deserves A Happy Ending.

I kept think of how Jodi Picoult and her daughter gonna end the story and make Oliver and Delilah could stay forever when I was reading. And the ending they made is great. It is not logical, seriously not very logical but reasonable and seemed like no other better way could be done. That's why I love Jodi's book. Her books always make me curious about the ending. And also the ending she wrote everytime surprise me.

I really enjoy reading this book.
Argh, again come to this difficult moment in choosing another new book. Ciao!

Belated birthday outing with BFF :)

Happy Belated 22nd to the BFF in the world, Miss Fiona!
*Cheers and Applause*

So, we went to this very favourite cafe of us, Spice Vaganza to have our gathering dinner.
Second time on this Chocolate Brownies with ice cream @RM6.90
Both of us found this is super yummylicious when we tried it for the first time, so we ordered this for the second time. And we just get tired of it this time, found it is a bit too sweet. It is still good, still awesome, just we had lost our interest on the second try Aww.....
*Forget the name* Special sauce grilled or what.
The sauce is really special and nice. Familiar sauce taste but I couldn't name it.
The chicken is a bit dry lack of the sauce.
 Pancake with ice cream @RM6.90
The pancake is thick and warm with the blueberry jam inside.

Silly me forgot to bring along Fiona's present. And we back home to take it after dinner.
*Octopus me*
Fiona loves it! I'm so proud of myself.
I think she is going to cry when browsing through it. XD

‘Between The Lines’ inspired ootd.
We wanna take photo with the photo book but every pose we could think of is just too mainstream.
So I suggested this pose 'coz the 'Between the lines' novel is just beside me and I found it is quite special. LOL
The cover of the novel as if you don't know.
This is the book I currently reading and promise to post the book review once I done reading.

Sneak peek on some of my favourite pages of the photo book.
Many of my friends were amazed that we had so many photo *I have to select from even more* to put in a 40 pages book.
9 years of friendship no kidding. If we had better phone during our secondary, it would have even more more more photo to pick you know!
I love most of the pages actually but I couldn't post it all here. *due to privacy =P*
 The front and back cover.
*Thanks to Yee Ching for helping me to design these two pages and also help me in ordering the photo book, checking and all. Thanks Gigi! :D *
I love the love shape masks.
I think this is the page I love the most!
This is one of the very unforgettable page of memories.
*Pay/ Subcribe/ Ask me to view more*
Haahaa XD
With the photo I loved the most today, saying 'Goodbye and see you in my next post'
:)
